Preserving, protecting, perpetuating and teaching native Hawaiian culture and traditions through the life and heritage of the canoes.

Hui O Wa'a Kaulua allows students to participate in cultural activites outside the school setting. This progam assists students in developing cultural values and awareness of things "Polynesian" with the holp of the Maui and Hawai'i community. Students have the opportunity to experience Polynesian voyaging by learning history, Hawaiian chant and ha'a, water safety, CPR, first aid, crafts, protocol, navigation and sailing.

Program Objectives:

~ Acquire knowledge and skills of the cultural history of Hawai'i.

~ Develop positve attitude, values and teamings skills by working together with peers and adults from the Maui Community.

~ Dipslay courtesy, respect, teamwork and responsibility in all activities.

~ Improve the health and well-being of participants

~ Care for and recognize the importance of preserving Hawai'i's delicate environment.

~ Acquire knowledge and skills necessary for employment.
